Something about iPhone 5

Though nothing is clear as yet, there are reports indicating the possibility that Apple  may launch more than one iPhone 5 handsets at the time of release

Well, you get what you deserve. So if you are eager to get your hands on one of the most awaited smartphones in the market, you will have to wait a little longer than what you might have anticipated. World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is beginning mid-June, but you may not be able to see it there. Longtime Apple watchers are of the view that Apple will not launch a new iPhone version right now as it is not yet prepared to introduce one.

Samsung has upped the ante by launching Galaxy S3 in the market that is infinitely better than what Apple’s iPhone 4S offers. This is the reason Galaxy S3 has received a mammoth response in the market. It has already got more than a million pre-orders and demand is going to go up in the days and weeks ahead. But Apple’s next-generation smartphone is going to come with many major improvements. Experts suggest that it will use cutting edge in-cell touch panels. Taiwan-based tech blog Digitimes has this to say, “An improvement in yield rates of the in-cell touch panels at Sharp and TMD has persuaded Apple to choose to cooperate with Japan-based panel makers.”

Experts are of the view that in-cell touch will make the phone lighter. They are of the opinion that incorporation of the in-cell touch panels would reduce the weight of the phone, reduce the thickness of the phone, and eliminate the need for an external module or film.

This sounds credible for Apple as to when Apple gadgets are concerned, they happen to be the slimmest and the sleekest out there. But the news of new technology has its side effects too. A report in ComputerWorld has this to say, “In order to launch the device Apple needs to be extremely certain that build quality is high. It cannot afford another “antennagate”, and company executives have better things to do than to enter damage control for a problem which shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. Apple also has industry-leading customer satisfaction levels and a reputation for build quality to protect”.

Apple is expected to launch a bigger iPhone this time. A Wall Street Journal report has said that Apple has decided to introduce a bigger iPhone that its trademark iPhone that came with a 3.5-inch display. The WSJ report said Apple will launch a 4-inch screen in the iPhone it is set to introduce in October.

But there are some reports that indicate that Apple may launch not one, but two or even more variants of iPhone 5 later this year. It appears the company hasn’t yet internally declared which way to go with the new design with a report claiming Apple still has “a few” different prototype devices undergoing internal testing in the hallowed halls of its Cupertino HQ. And the iPhone 5 will, indeed, boast a new Dock Connector, that report claims. But nothing is clear as yet and it is not going to clear till Apple actually launches the beauty we all are waiting for.
